Fill in the ‘balik kampung’ form before you leave for a CNY trip this weekend

With 1 million cars expected to hit the roads this weekend as the ‘balik kampung’ frenzy out of KL begins for CNY and the long weekend, The Kuala Lumpur Police deputy chief Datuk Law Hong Soon has advised anyone who will be travelling to fill up a ‘balik kampung’ form provided by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and drop it off at the nearest police station. This is so that police officers can keep watch on the houses during their patrols while the owners are away.

Anyone travelling back to their hometown, and even expats who are travelling out of KL this weekend, can download a copy of the form from the PDRM website.

However, the form is in Bahasa Melayu. So here’s a translation for those who need it:

The section on the left of the form is a guideline on home safety and security – just the basic stuff – as well as a list of 24-hour PDRM numbers in each state which you can call in cases of emergencies.

  • A& B: (Details to be filled in by the police department)
  • C: Home-owner information. Please be advised that the person named below will be leaving their home for a holiday.
  • D: Name
  • E: Address
  • F: Phone number (provide a that you will have with you at all times)
  • G: Date you will be leaving your home
  • H: Estimated date of return
  • I: Address of where you will be staying while on holiday
  • J: Cars that will be left at home (Model and license plate)
  • K: Other information
  • L: Signature
  • M: Date
  • N: (This section should be separated and handed to the nearest police station)
