School snaps: Excelsior hosts professional football team
This article is brought to you in part by Excelsior International School, Malaysia (EIS).
From 23 to 25 January, the Excelsior International School in Johor Bahru was delighted to welcome the professional players and coaches of Singapore’s Geylang International Football Club (GIFC.)
GIFC used the school’s world class all-weather football pitch to undertake several days of intense training prior to their friendly game with the Malaysian Super League team and 2015 Asia Federation Cup Champions, the Johor DT Southern Tigers. The club also conducted a football clinic for the school’s aspiring footaball enthusiasts, giving the young players the opportunity to receive direct coaching and advice ‘from the pros.’
EIS’ Head of Physical Education and Sports, Mr Russell McKie said, “It was great to be able to provide our footballers, boys and girls, with this valuable and inspiring experience. It is very important for our school community to see the possibilities that sport can offer and to learn from the pros. At Excelsior, we have the highest quality sporting facilities and what better way to utilise them as we strive for sporting excellence?”
