Take a look at this modern home in Janda Baik Forest, Pahang
This is part of an ExpatGo editorial series featuring creative architecture in Malaysia and around Southeast Asia.
Nestled in the Janda Baik forest in Pahang at the foothill of Genting Highlands is a private residence built on gentle slope. The idea was to design a simple, unassuming, and modern house within the lush greenery of the forest.
The resulting Deck House is a 4,000 square feet, 2 1/2 storey house that built with steel, glass and timbre.
The deck, which is the highlight of the house, is is supported by a steel structure and designed to be an ‘infinity deck’, bringing the occupants close enough to touch the trees. The Master bedroom also opens to an outdoor terrace.
Despite the modern steely look, the house functions as a traditional tropical house with a well lit interior space and has high ceilings with an in-built ventilation system of windows and louvers to allow hot air to escape. The numerous windows also allow for natural light to enter and gives the occupants a stunning view of the lush greenery outside.
