The children’s house was founded in 1986 by Nan Civel, the first educator to introduce the complete Montessori Method of early childhood education in Malaysia. Nan was inspired by a visionary Italian doctor, Dr. Maria Montessori, which led her to embark on a three-year course of study and work programme in the Maria Montessori Training Organisation in England, in 1983. She also gained many hours of teaching experience in three different Montessori schools in London upon completion of her Diploma in Montessori Education.

With much confidence and motivation, Nan returned to Malaysia to set-up The children’s house in Damansara Heights, introducing the Montessori philosophy in its entirety.
