A blood donation campaign organized by Penang Hospital will spread out to public places, according to a report in the New Straits Times.
“The places targeted are schools, industrial areas and the National Service Training Programme Centres,” says Mohamad Sabri Othman, Chief Assistant Director for the State Health Department. He also said that the blood donation campaign will be going on throughout the year, as the aim is to collect 24,000 units of blood.
According to Mohamad Sabri, HPP, the medical research centre, has received 21,502 units of blood so far, with 66% of the units collected from mobile blood donation campaigns. 69% were said to be regular donors.
