Amid the deafening roars of drums, gongs, firecrackers, and party poppers, the students and staff of Kolej Yayasan UEM, Lembah Beringin turned over a new page in life by sending off the old year and welcoming the Year of the Rooster in its Chinese New Year Dinner celebration. It is an annual event organised by the Chinese Cultural Club of KYUEM which took place on February 6, 2017 in the college’s Great Hall.
At 8.15pm, a pair of lion dancers from Teluk Intan’s San Min Secondary School led the headmaster of KYUEM, Dr Paul Rogers, accompanied by his wife and other members of the Senior Management Team into the Great Hall. The event was also graced by the visit of Ms Diana Osagie, CEO of the Courageous Leadership Consultancy.
Aside from the speeches, opening ceremony, and the lion dance performance, the students and staff were treated to the mouth-watering food catered from the nearby Garden Seafood Restaurant in Tanjung Malim. After the dinner, several of the students presented various performances including singing, dancing, Chinese orchestra, and Chinese yo-yo in front of the crowd and left them awe-struck.
