This movie/musical is adapted from a popular musical of the same name, which in turn was adapted from Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name; “Les Miserables”.
It tells the story of Jean Valjean, a convict imprisoned and released for stealing a loaf of bread who is pursued for years by an obsessed police official, Inspect Javert.
As time goes by, the convict takes on a new identity, adopts an orphaned girl named Fantine, and fights in the French Revolution in 1832.
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron and Helena Bonham Carter.
