“Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said that the state will not make any decision regarding the Automated Enforcement System (AES) for traffic until it hears explanation from the companies tasked with its implementation”, Bernama reports.
According to reports, states under the opposition rule (Selangor, Penang, Kelantan and Kedah), decided to defer the implementations of the AES.
The AES is a high-technology camera that will be used in detecting traffic offenders. This includes offenders who beat red lights and exceed the speed limit.
According to Tan Sri Khalid, “the state (Selangor) has a few proposals in mind for them (the two companies) to look at if we agree to the implementation, to show that the project is more equitable to both sides.”
