Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Sun Daily reports that Malaysia is susceptible to earthquakes. Apparently, Sabah and Sarawak is at risk of moderate quakes while peninsular Malaysia is prone to mild quakes.

According to Science, Technology and Innovation Deputy Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, the earthquake insight was discovered following a study on the risks and hazards of earthquakes and tsunami in Malaysia, which was completed in 2009 by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).

The article in The Sun wrote that based on the data compiled between September and November this year, tremors of less than magnitude four were felt in Beluran, Kota Maruda, Kudat and Tambunan in Sabah. This means that Malaysia is prone to earthquakes, but moderate and mild ones.

Expats and locals should not be worried though as the earthquakes are reportedly be very mild ones. Malaysia is still a safe country.
