While Malaysians continue to ponder upon the fate of the world, a restaurant in George Town, named End of the World, has decided to offer a 10% discounts to diners.
According to The Star, restaurant owner, Lai Gean Guan, is offering a 10% discount on all those who visit his restaurant between 12 noon and 11pm today. Diners will also receive a free plate of fruits.
Hoping to boost his seafood business, Lai tells The Star that it will be interesting to dine at his restaurant on the last day of the Mayan calendar. Expecting a large crowd, Lai has prepared enough seafood (especially lobsters and crabs) to feed 600 patrons throughout the day.
Wondering how the name ‘End of the World’ came about for a seafood restaurant? Well, according to The Star, a South African tourist took a picture while dining at the restaurant, and sent it back to the restaurant with the caption, “End of the World.” Lai felt that the caption was ironic as the restaurant is located at one end of the island.
End of the World restaurant is located in front of the Teluk Bahang roundabout.
