Always wanted to know what the sun really looks like? Well, this is your chance to see the sun with your naked eye!
The National Planetarium in Kuala Lumpur will be opening its observatory doors to the public this Thursday, 7 February 2013, to give everyone a chance to see the surface of the sun with the naked eye. The last time this happened was 19 years ago!
This exclusive opportunity is line with the 19th anniversary of the planetarium.
A statement released by the National Space Agency said the observatory is usually closed to the public but were only open for students undertaking a special study of space, and also for certain official visitors.
According to the agency, those visiting the planetarium will be able to see the surface of the sun with the naked eye by using the first C14 robotic telescope in Malaysia.
According to Bernama, aside from looking at the sun, those who visit the planetarium on Thursday will also be able to watch the free screening of the latest science-fiction films “Journey to the Stars” and “Across the Universe: The Voyager Show”, attend a public lecture on space science and information pertaining to the space phenomena for 2013 with Falak Online.
