For the past one month, news portals have been buzzing with news of Lahad Datu. Along with the facts, there are many negative rumours circulating that Malaysia is at war. To clear things up, we have compiled a timeline of activities that has been happening since day one at Lahad Datu. This timeline will be updated as often as possible with facts from various valid news portals in Malaysia.
14 March, The Malaysian authorities have decided to send in more troops and equipment to Lahad Datu. The police and armed forces are planning on sending more manpower to ensure the security of the affected areas. The added manpower will be brought in in stages. Some of the assets to be brought in include; helicopters, naval vessels and 12 armoured personnel carriers.
The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) released a statement saying that they respect and recognise the decision taken by the people of Sabah to join Malaysia in 1963. According to Chairman Muslimin Sema, the decision should not be disputed by any quarters. Muslimin also stated that the MNLF had nothing to do with Jamalul Kiram’s (self-proclaimed Sulu sultan) decision in sending in his troops to seize Sabah.
The number of Sulu intruders killed at this point is at 58.
