Where has all the time gone? With one foot into the second half of the year, we hope 2018 has been good for you so far. As we get back into the groove after the Raya break, whatever work that was on hold then will presumably have snowballed by now. Amidst the impending chaos, remember to take a breather now and then! Vortex by Richard Koh Fine Art

Vortex will be artist Faizal Yunus’ second solo exhibition at Richard Koh Fine Art. On his exploration of using printmaking techniques beyond the confinements of a traditional printmaking studio, he goes back to Mother Nature for inspiration. He uses construction net and polyurethane in the artworks as symbols of main polluting agents. The exhibition will showcase 19 floor and wall-mounted canvas pieces as the artist’s visual documentation of his response to the changing landscapes due to pollution and global warming.

Imagined Home(Land) by Our ArtProjects

OUR ArtProjects presents a solo exhibition by Phuan Thai Meng. The exhibition will feature artworks comprising paintings, photography, and map drawings. In this era of globalisation with connectivity becoming easier between different parts of the world, the artist explores new possibilities revolving around nationality, ethnicity, and social structures that transcend boundaries.

In Defence of Poetry by Kill The Radio

Held in an urban subterranean attic of a soon-to-be-demolished furniture warehouse, 14 emerging artists are given free rein to showcase their works unrestrained and raw. They include Ajim Juxta, Andy Wauman, Blank Malaysia, Fu Xuan, James Ly, Kara Inez, Sofia Haron, Sophia Kamal, Sliz, Tomi Hari, and Yee Leng. The artworks explore poetics of space, myths, traditions, and personal histories to talk about beauty, identity, feminism, sexuality, and the status quo.

3 by Wei-Ling Gallery

Wei-Ling Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Sean Lean. In this exhibition called ‘3’, the artworks feature a series of triptychs. Each series of panels provide a commentary on different issues ranging from politics and religion, to something more personal and intimate. The three panels work collectively as a beginning, middle, and end of sorts, where Lean leaves the gaps in between up for visitors to think about.
