Since the launch of ‘Ops Cantas Khas’ 52 days ago, there has been a significant drop in violent crimes in Malaysia.
According to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, the figure has dropped from 104 criminal cases to 69.
Dr Wan also said that 15,877 people were picked up from the total 418,922 screened, with the seizure of 469 firearms and dangerous weapons. A total of 679 vehicles linked to crimes were also seized by authorities.
352 investigation papers were opened under the Societies Act 1966, 62 under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 and 144 investigation papers under the firearm or scheduled weapons offences.
“Of the total (number of cases), 120 cases were brought to court on offences related to firearms and scheduled weapons,” he said.
The police will continue with the ‘Ops Cantas Khas’ operation to ensure national security and for the safety of the public.
