Cruise corporation, Genting Hong Kong, is currently building its first Global Class ship under the Dream Cruises line that’s set to launch in 2021. The pioneer ship will use facial and voice recognition technology to eliminate most queues, automated robots to perform everyday tasks, and contextual marketing to even out demand on ship facilities. There will also be other artificial intelligence and digital systems in place to support and further enhance guests’ experience. The vessel is currently being constructed at MV Werften, Genting Hong Kong’s own shipyard in Germany, after three years of meticulous design works. Dream Cruises’ Global Class ship will combine German engineering with Chinese technology.
At a whopping 204,000 gross tonnes of capacity, the Global Class is the largest cruise ship to be built in Germany. It measures 342 metres long, 46.40 metres wide, and can accommodate up to 5,000 passengers on twin-sharing basis. Meanwhile, its life-saving facilities are built for a total of 9,500 passengers. Genting Hong Kong signed a deal with the Baoshan District Government to help develop the cruise industry in China, specifically Shanghai. The first Global Class ship is set to be delivered in 2021 and Shanghai is the chosen port for its maiden call.

Designed to complement the rapid growth of the Asian cruise market, the Global Class ships are set to stun. Features include a theme park with a virtual reality roller coaster, a Cineplex, Asian spa as well as a Western spa, plenty of shopping facilities, authentic Asian and international dining experiences, as well as fast food restaurants. The Global Class vessels will join the Dream Cruises fleet for journeys all over the world, making it truly ‘Asia’s Global Cruise Line.’
