A housewife from Kelantan and a certified public accountant from Kuala Lumpur won themselves a brand new Mercedes Benz CLA200 Coupe AMG each in the Eraman Shopping Extravaganza #25AmazingYears Contest that was held between July until October last year. The shopping campaign that was organised by Eraman Duty Free, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airports, attracted more than 200,000 over entries from Malaysia, China, Singapore, Europe and India.
27-year-old Phan Siew Lee was announced as the grand prize winner of the 4-month campaign. She won the grand prize of a brand new Mercedes Benz CLA200 Coupe AMG and Petron Miles Points worth RM5000, a reward from her purchase of duty free cigarettes and liquor products at Eraman Duty Free Emporium, International Arrival of KLIA2, the second terminal of KL International Airport (IATA Code: KUL).
“I am shocked. This is my first time participating in such contest but I did not expect to win anything. I travelled to Macau for our family holiday in August last year. I remember I purchased a few duty-free items at KLIA2. Nevertheless, I feel very happy and blessed. What a great start to the new year!” said Phan.
Meanwhile, the other grand prize winner, 58-year old Jayarajan A/L U Rathinasamy also walked away with a Mercedes-Benz CLA200 Coupe AMG, after spending with his Maybank Visa Infinite credit card at the Eraman Duty Free outlet at the KLIA Main Terminal of KUL. The other main winners were Selvarathinam Saravana from India and P. Alexander from Singapore who will be spending a week in Scotland visiting the Johnnie Walker House as part of the all-expenses paid trip that they each had won.
Present at the prize giving event were Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager of Commercial Services, Mohammad Nazli bin Abdul Aziz, Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd General Manager, Zulhikam bin Ahmad, Head of cards, group community financial services of Maybank, B Ravintharan, Petron Malaysia Berhad, Marketing Manager, Danny Chen and Cycle and Carriage retail operations general manager, Chua Tze-Wei to witness and give away the prizes to the lucky winners.
According to Nazli, the shopping campaign was specially tailored to celebrate Eraman’s 25 years of existence in the travel retail and duty-free industry. Nazli said, “We wanted to create an exciting shopping experience that would appeal to all travellers and reward them handsomely. In recent years, airport retail shopping has become an integral part of air travel globally. As KUL is one of the world’s busiest airports, we relentlessly focus on carrying out campaigns to reward travellers and our loyal customers whilst also ensuring a wide range of products and exciting in-store offers. In 2018, our Malaysia operations had recorded a 2.5% growth in passenger traffic movements to 99 million. I am happy to see that this growth had also translated to a 2.3% growth in total sales at all our airports.”
Ravintharan was also pleased to share that during the campaign period, Maybank registered over 50% year-on-year growth in business volume and doubled the growth in the number of transactions as compared to the same corresponding period in 2017 at Eraman. “Maybank is delighted with the overwhelming response and we will continue to actively engage our customers by partnering leading brands such as Eraman to continuously reward our customers with the best shopping experiences,” he said.
Running in its third year now, the 4-month campaign was held from July until October last year. Shoppers were required to spend a minimum of RM350 at any participating Eraman outlet nationwide in order to stand a chance to win prizes totalling more than RM1.2 million which includes two Mercedes Benz CLA200 Coupe AMG, international holiday packages for two to Scotland, Austria and Switzerland, gift vouchers, designer handbags and jewellery as well as points for Petron Miles Card.
Eraman’s loyal patrons were also rewarded with 350 Petron Miles Points whereas 200 lucky regional Maybank cardmembers received RM250 cash rebates each during the campaign.
