In celebration of 45 years of bilateral relations between Malaysia and China this year, AirAsia has announced exclusive direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Lanzhou and Quanzhou.
With this, AirAsia is now cemented as the largest foreign carrier by capacity operating in China, with over 400 weekly flights and 24 destinations including Lanzhou in the northwest (Gansu province) and Quanzhou in the southeast (Fujian province).
AirAsiaX Malaysia’s CEO Benyamin Ismail noted that the new service will increase the seats per annum to and from China by 280,000 seats, forging stronger ties between the nations.
The CEO of its China-based counterpart, AirAsia China’s Tassapon Bijleveld also stated that AirAsia’s footprint in China had been growing for more than 14 years now, and has connected millions of people from ASEAN regions to lesser-visited second and third-tier cities of China for considerably lower fares, while a building number of more potential routes to be announced soon.
Flight schedules for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL) to Lanzhou, China (LHW) are on every alternate days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) in the evenings, and flight schedules to Quanzhou are scheduled for daily departures in the morning.
