TEG Media in conjunction with Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council were delighted to welcome guests and dignitaries including TV chef Anis Nabilah and Dato Reiss Tiara for a fascinating introduction to ALPS Medical Centre’s comprehensive health, aesthetic and wellness services.
ALPS Medical Centre has evolved into a preferred Asia Pacific destination for medical tourism, with a specialised boutique offering anti-ageing, aesthetics medicine, plastic surgery, and wellness services to meet ever-escalating consumer demands. Along with the centrally located clinic at Menara See Hoy Chan, ALPS also has a Wellness and Anti-Ageing Centre in the internationally renowned resort of Genting Highlands, and Amandrey Clinic in Penang.
The wellness morning on 19 July 2019 began with an introduction from ALPS Group Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dato’Sri Dr SK Tham, an established expert in the field of life sciences with a passion for cellular therapy. Dr Tham spoke about the team’s focus on precision medicine and preventative health management. Precision medicine using mRNA profiling has emerged as a primary approach for disease prevention and treatment over the past five years, and ALPS is the first in Malaysia to use this technology to elevate preventative care for chronic diseases.
Malaysia’s status as a premier destination for medical tourism continues to grow. Suryani Mustapa from Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) explained how MHTC works with select medical centres like ALPS to facilitate patient experience from their home country, ensuring a seamless journey for medical tourists and the best experience for patients.
The next presenter was plastic surgeon Dr Benjamin George Jr, who discussed how ALPS’ aesthetic services—from minimally invasive laser treatment, fillers and threadlifts through to surgical procedures such as rhinoplasty, eyelid blepharoplasty and reconstructive surgery—can help improve self-image and slow down the ageing process.
Leading the MyGenome Institute at ALPS is geneticist Dr Ho Chai San. Dr Ho outlined how MyGenome counts RNA for 770 genes linked to different diseases, and answered a number of questions from guests about how genetic screening can be used to detect disease early and work out the best type of treatment for each patient.
Following the expert speakers, guests watched enthralled as Dr Siti Aminah Pawanchik demonstrated two of ALPS’ most popular and accessible treatments on the very lucky chosen participants – the Q-Switch Laser and Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injection. All were impressed by the immediate effectiveness of these treatments.
The day concluded with a sumptuous buffet lunch, as guests mingled and received personalised advice from the ALPS expert team of medical professionals. Our thanks go to MHTC and the ALPS Medical Centre team for a highly informative morning.
