For anyone looking to create a new fitness goal for themselves, or even start competing professionally in bodybuilding, Mass comes with many years of experience and a different approach to attaining the body you desire.
Having lived in Kuala Lumpur since 2010, personal trainer and international competitive body builder Mass D Kamali thinks of himself more of a local than an expat. With over 14 years of professional experience on the international bodybuilding circuit, Mass has harnessed all of his experience to now help others achieve personal milestones that they’ve previously thought not possible. According to him, getting the body that you desire is especially easy when you are willing to invest in yourself.
Talking about how fitness culture has become a serious lifestyle choice for many, Mass believes that social media has played a big part in attracting people to live healthier.
“Many feel as if social media has driven people to be more physically conscious and vain, but I don’t see it that way. Social media has allowed for people to be proud of the time and energy it took to sculpt and create the way they desire to look, and in doing so, become an inspiration to others looking to do the same thing,” he says.
“Fitness culture has also spurred healthy and clean eating trends that I think are very beneficial for people in general.”
Just to be clear, he doesn’t exactly advocate for any specific diet and goes on to explain that nutrition just works better when eating is done intuitively. That means not putting ourselves through strict diets that prohibits too many things. The most important factor for people to remember, to maintain a healthy diet is to control sugar consumption, and for those looking to build more muscle, to limit the intake of complex carbs.
“Being on a specific diet should never be about suffering, even for trainers like myself. I monitor my regulated amount of calories consumed daily, but I do allow myself to let loose a little on weekends. After being strict with myself all week, I really look forward to having beers with my friends, or indulging in sweet treats.”
Mass refers to the part of fitness culture that turns people off; the assumption that eating healthy is boring and tedious with a lack of variety. He insists that variety is indeed the spice of life, and taking healthy eating to an unattainable extreme is counter-productive to one’s mental health.
“As long as someone can learn that balance is everything, there’s no need to deprive ourselves from the things that we love in order to maintain our desired physical appearance,” he assures us.
“Eating healthy never needs to be boring. With information at our fingertips, the possibilities are endless when it comes to proper nutrition. There are thousands of delicious recipes available to us at any given time on the internet, with different ways of enjoying food that’s good for us. All it takes is motivation on our part to make our own lives interesting by trying something new.”
He relates to his clients who have faced such experiences where they’ve felt demotivated with their diets due to lack of variety, and he reminds them that it’s perfectly fine to ditch the diet every now and then if it starts making them unhappy. Diets are meant to be tweaked and custom made according to each individual, so it’s never a ‘one size fits all’ type of scenario. Basically, healthy eating does not have to be so restrictive, and people can still enjoy their favourite foods as long as they put it the time and energy to burn off access calories. Mass also informs his clients to eat according to their blood and body type which helps a lot with regulating metabolism and increased natural fat burning.
And as for his training methods, Mass is all about pushing oneself even when we don’t feel like it.
“Don’t look for the easy way out. Put all your time and energy into your goals and chase what means most to you. In order to see results, you have to have an organized approach,” he says.
“There’s more than one way or method to achieve optimal progress, but having your own custom plan that is specific to your current shape, overall goal, gender, and age will accelerate your results tenfold,” he adds.
For anyone looking to create a new fitness goal for themselves, or even start competing professionally in body building, Mass comes with many years of experience and a different approach to attaining the body you desire.
“Set yourself up for success and watch how far you can go in as little as 7 days. If you don’t know how to prep or are confused because you have not seen the results that you want, I am confident I can get you on the right path with visible results faster than before.”
