Anticipating a sharp rise in demand, Malaysia Airlines has announced its increased frequency to and from London’s Heathrow Airport, ultimately returning to twice-daily service for the summer months.
The flag carrier will move to 11 flights per week from March 27, and then to double daily from June 30. The additional flights will increase capacity on the route by over 70,000 seats. The move comes in tandem with the planned reopening of Malaysia’s borders on April 1.
Commenting on the news, Daniel Bainbridge, the airline’s regional director for the UK and Europe, said, “I am delighted that we are resuming our full schedule, twice daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur in the summer following the significant increase to 11x weekly flights from March 27 for the first time since early 2020.”
The further increase in capacity is a top priority for Malaysia Airlines on our flagship route,” he added,” and we remain the only non-stop carrier between London and Kuala Lumpur.”
