“International commercial flights will gradually resume as negotiations with certain countries are ramped up to increase services.”

After enforcing what is still the strictest pandemic border control policy in the world, China has eased restrictions after more than two years by welcoming back direct inbound passengers into Beijing.

After banning all direct international flights into Beijing early on in 2020, China’s Civil Aviation Administration required anyone headed to the capital to first land at one of the pre-approved cities to quarantine before resuming travel to the capital or elsewhere.

The aviation regulator was reported saying that international commercial flights will gradually resume as negotiations with certain countries are ramped up to increase services.

So far, Air China Ltd. has restarted a once-weekly direct flight from Paris, and ANA will be resuming weekly flights from Narita in August. Etihad Airways PJSC had resumed direct flights to the capital in late June after China halved the length mandatory quarantine isolation to seven days, as reported by China National Radio broadcasting earlier this month.

Taking no chances after repeated outbreaks, travelling into China requires herculean patience as passengers can face possible disruptions seeing how the ruling government still chooses to implement circuit-breaker lockdowns as soon as Covid numbers show a slight increase.

With that in mind, China National Radio has announced plans to increase overseas services as Air China will gradually resume multiple international flights to Europe and Asia. China Eastern Airlines Corp. have also revealed plans to operate more than 130 international flights per week very soon.
