Indonesia is hoping efforts to retrieve the black box from AirAsia flight QZ8501 today will be successful.
Yesterday, it was reported by The Star that divers had managed to identify the tail of the plane. The head of the search agency Basarnas, Mr Bambang Soelistyo, said that divers had managed to take photos to confirm that it indeed was the tail of the plane. The logo of the airline can be seen. The tail of the plane was apparently wedged upside down on the seabed, about 30m deep. The location of the voice and flight data recorders is housed in the tail of the plane.
Retrieving the voice and flight data recorders is crucial in determining what cause the plane to crash into the sea.
So far, a total of 40 bodies have been recovered. Eight more victims have been identified.
