Selangor has received a dengue warning from the ministry of health.
According to a report in The Star, the number of dengue cases in Malaysia has increased with nearly 3000 new cases recorded in the past week!

Selangor had the highest amount of recorded case with more than 1000 new cases in a week.
According to Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya, “The Health Ministry urges Selangor and its local councils to pay close attention to the rise in dengue cases.”
“Local councils must keep a close watch on proper waste management and other related problems which may lead to the increase in dengue cases.”
Ministry deputy health-general Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Sinnadurai said that right now, there are up to 2,500 to 2,800 new cases a week. Dr Jeyaindran also said that the public has to be proactive in eradicating mosquito breeding grounds around and within their homes.
During last year’s dengue crisis, there were up to 3,500 cases a week.

The one thing I hate about Malaysia – mosquitoes! The government should do more. They only fog in areas where Dengue cases have been reported, but no prevention. The many building sites are perfect for breeding, as well as the rubbish lying along the streets.
