The Expat Wine Dinner at Opus Bistro – May 2012

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Opus Bistro is already a firm favourite among any who live in the Bangsar Baru vicinity, and wine dinner guests who joined us last month for a first taste of this cosy little bistro were markedly impressed.

The traffic was kind, so guests gathered promptly to enjoy their welcoming glass of wine and chat, before taking their places at the carefully laid-up tables to embark on their dinner.

The first course offered a choice of food and wine: ladies tended to opt for the Big Prawn Ceaser Salad with the glass of fragrant Gruner Vetliner Hugo, while a warming bowl of Oxtail Soup with garlic bread came with the dark ruby Weingut Wenniger Blaufrankisch.

All guests joined in delighting in the Pan Fried Marbling 9 Wagyu with aglio olio linguini, before clearing the palates for the tricky choice of main courses: a Baked Fresh Norwegian Salmon or the 80 day-aged Rib Eye. Both meals came with a glass of Treibaumer’s versatile tipple, in either red or white.

Dessert was well worth waiting for, and the simple yet wonderful idea of Deep Fried Mango topped with ice cream was a huge hit, especially with the accompanying glass of Nittnaus Beerenauslese.
