History of Nike We Run KL

The series took off three years ago as part of the Nike’s Human Race, a 10K run held in various cities around the world on a single day back in 2008. It then evolved into the We Run 10K series the following year and is now Nike’s single largest race series – taking place in 32 cities worldwide and involving a total of 395,000 runners. The run also creates a new global community of athletes through innovative Nike+ technology.

The 2012 We Run series kicked off in Riga, Latvia on August 26 and made its way across cities including Zagreb, Prague, Moscow, Seoul, Manila, Quito, and Rio de Janeiro before concluding in Santiago, Chile on December 15. The Nike We Run KL edition this year was met with an overwhelming response and not only registered the highest number of participants (8,000 in 2010 and 10,000 in 2011), but also broke the recruitment record – more than 15,000 slots were snapped up within a mere 5 hours after it had opened!

Goal of Nike We Run KL

The aim of the Nike We Run series is to try and bring something different to the table every year. Striving to provide a different experience for runners and wanting to create an atmosphere like no other, everything from the route to the entertainment to the race village are created to enable runners to have the best running experience.
