Founded in 2009, the Malaysia Tug of War Association (MTWA) stands as the official governing body for the sport of tug of war in Malaysia. Based in Kuala Lumpur, MTWA is dedicated to promoting and developing this age-old sport across the nation. As a recognized member of several prestigious international bodies, including the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF), the Asian Tug of War Federation (ATWF), and the ASEAN Tug of War Federation, MTWA has significantly elevated Malaysia’s presence on the global stage.
MTWA’s commitment to the sport is showcased through high-profile events such as the Kuala Lumpur International Tug of War Club Championships. Scheduled to take place from September 12th to 16th, 2024, at Dataran Merdeka, this championship will feature a diverse range of weight categories, including senior men and women, U23 and U21 categories, and even traditional tug of war. With 1,500 participants and an expected attendance of 40,000 over five days, the event promises to be a vibrant celebration of strength, strategy, and teamwork.
