Expatriates and tourists in Malaysia will soon find it easier to interact with police, as reports have it that the Kuala Lumpur police will be setting up an international Liaison Unit to make things easier for them (expats and tourists).
According to an article on the Star online, the unit will be set up pretty soon to make the Federal capital’s police a world-class outfit.
“The establishment of the unit has been agreed upon by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar and we will choose the officers, whether with the rank of Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent of Police to be members of the unit,” said Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Mohmad Salleh.
The Chief also said that the officers chosen will need to master different languages to simplify communication with foreigners.
