Whitney Miller, winner of the first ever MasterChef USA, was recently in town to promote healthy eating through the use of SousVide Supreme cooking appliance. Sous vide is set to be a new cooking method for Malaysians who are interested in eating towards a healthier lifestyle.
The 24-year-old MasterChef USA winner is in the country on a four day visit with the mission of promoting a healthier eating lifestyle to Malaysians through sous vide cooking. Sous vide means “under vacuum” in French. Food is vacuum-sealed and then immersed in a water bath, and cooked at a very precise and consistent temperature.
Miller is taking the opportunity to demonstrate several dishes using the newly launched SousVide Supreme as a way to educate the public on the advantages of preparing food with the sous vide method.
“Malaysia is full of wonderful food and delicacies. I have noticed that many Malaysians are moving towards healthy eating. Today, people are particularly sensitive towards their food preparation. I would definitely recommend cooking food using the sous vide method as it keeps the texture, nutrients and natural flavouring of the food, and does not require any artificial flavouring to create a delicious gourmet meal”, said Miller.
“Malaysians love to eat, but increasingly, Malaysians are looking for healthier food for their daily consumption. SousVide Supreme is the ideal choice for health cooking. Food is vacuum sealed before cooking to ensure that all the nutrition remains intact. SousVide Supreme is not only suitable for Western food preparation, but local favourites such as rendang, said Ooi Kah Hin, Managing Director of Visionary Solutions Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of SousVide Supreme in Malaysia.
SousVide Supreme allows sous vide gourmet food to be prepared within households. The temperature control system allows food to be cooked to perfection and eliminates the concern of overcooking. The device will also seal the nutrition of the food without spoiling the taste and texture of the food.
SousVide Supreme is available at Harvey Norman as well as all leading electrical retailers nationwide. For more information visit www.sousvidesupreme.com or look for “SousVide Supreme Malaysia” on Facebook.
