An image of the Virgin Mary was spotted at the Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, last Friday. According to reports, a cleaner in the hospital spotted the image.
Since then, hundreds have flocked to the hospital to catch a glimpse of the image. Many gathered at the hospital with their Bibles and rosaries, singing hymns, praying and lighting candles.
Photos of the image which has gone viral on social networking site Facebook, shows a figure wearing a blue robe, with a halo above its head. Yahoo News says that this is similar to well-known depictions of Mother Mary.
According to online news portals Free Malaysia Today and Malaysian Digest, Sime Darby Medical Centre officials have yet to release a statement or comment on the image.
The image, described by many as a “truly amazing sight” can still be seen today.
However, the Malaysian Digest reports that Bishop Emiritus Anthony Selvanayagam has released a statement, asking all Catholics to remain calm until the Church comes out with an official statement, after conducting a proper investigation.
The image can be seen on the glass window of the seventh floor of the outpatient centre in the North tower.
