Said to be the first of its kind in Malaysia, the new floating temple is now opened to public in Penang.
The Persatuan Penganut Dewa Hean Boo Thean Temple at the Weld Quay reclamation area in Noordin Street Ghaut is indeed a beautiful sight. According to The Star, besides the beautiful floating temple, the other main attraction is the newly constructed jetty, where sea water can flow in during the high tide.
The 40-year old temple recently went through a massive expansion and renovation project which took about 18 months to complete.
At the moment, the temple committee is in discussion with the jetty committee, to have a ferry service from the clan jetty to the temple, as an extra attraction for those who want to take a boat to the temple.
The official opening ceremony of the temple is on 2 December at 9am, but The Star reports that a steady stream of visitors and devotees can already be seen visiting the temple.
