Darden Restaurants, which owns a number of well-known restaurant chains in the United States, has decided to move into Asia.
They plan to invest some RM1 billion in Sabah to create a lobster aquaculture park.
This will be done in collaboration with two local companies and it will eventually employ some 14,000 people and produce around 40 million pounds (over 18 million kilos) of lobster annually.
They will all be destined for restaurants owned by Darden. It will also become an R&D centre for the industry.
