‘Ride for Sight’ is an event aimed at creating public awareness for those who are visually impaired. Held for the third year, the event, which takes place on 14 April at Straits Quay, is expected to attract over 1000 cyclist. Some of the cyclists participating are also visually impaired. They will be cycling on 1- tandem bicycles and will be guided by voluntary able-sighted riders.
According to Bernama, ‘Ride for Sight’ is jointly organized by St. Nicholas Home, a home for the visually impaired, and G-Club Penang Cyclists.
For those who wish to participate, the participation fee is RM30 per person. The organisers are hoping to raise RM100,000 for this special bikeathon. An additional RM15 will be charged for those who want to rent bicycles.
The bikeathon, which is a 20km event, will start from Straits Quay. The routes include Gurney Drive, Esplanade, the heritage area, Burma Road, Kelawei Road and back to Straits Quay.
