Malaysia’s former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, launched a coffee table book yesterday on the historical journey of the joint cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand. The book is titled “Strength in Collaboration.”
The new coffee table book is said to contain collective memories and experiences over three decades of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) since the signing of a memorandum of understanding on 21 February, 1979, by Malaysia’s then Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn, and his Thai counterpart, Kriangsak Chomanan.
According to MTJA’s co-chairman for Malaysia, Datuk Noriyah Ahmad, the book involved a lot of research as well as detailed interviews with key people whose collective memories traced the step-by-step journey that brokered this unique partnership.
"This has led to a strong collaborative working relationship which calls for putting aside individual preferences in favour of a common vision. This vision offers us clarity in all that we do and keeps human development at the centre of all business operations," she told Bernama.
