The shoe maestro himself, Jimmy Choo, has advised all budding shoemakers to aggressively promote their products globally instead of worrying too much on pricing.
Choo reportedly told Bernama that it may be impossible to compete with China for producing shoes on a big scale, but Malaysian shoemakers can definitely work at producing quality footwear.
"Strengthened by our traditional and cultural assets, our products will win the hearts of the people who appreciate hard work," said Choo.
Choo, who is also the Tourism Ambassador for Malaysia, said that the shoemaking industry in Penang was more of a family business, maintaining a lifelong tradition through generation. He feels that they too should aggressively expand their business globally.
