The import duties on cars imported from Australia and Japan will be reduced every year until it is eventually abolished in 2016.
According to the New Straits Times, the Malaysian government will first reduce the current import duty of 30% on all new vehicles from Japan and Australia to 22% effective this year. After that, the number will go down every year, until it is finally abolished in 2016.
The New Straits Times says that an official statement on the tariff reduction will be announced today.
