For the past one month, news portals have been buzzing with news of Lahad Datu. Along with the facts, there are many negative rumours circulating that Malaysia is at war. To clear things up, we have compiled a timeline of activities that has been happening since day one at Lahad Datu. This timeline will be updated as often as possible with facts from various valid news portals in Malaysia.
12 March, Security forces announced that they had secured Kampung Tandou (the place where the intruders were holed up). This means that Kampung Tandou is free of the Sulu fighters. The security forces also raised the Malaysian flag at Kampung Tandou, after securing the place.
Tanjung Batu and Kampung Bilis are still classified as red zones.
Sabah Police commissioner believes that the situation at Lahad Datu may come to an end soon, as reports surfaced that Bantilan Esmail Kiram III, youngest brother of self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, was in a meeting with Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas to discuss the disengagement of the Royal Sulu Army.
Thousands of Sulu people residing illegally in Sabah have been making their way back to Sulu.
The federal government is considering giving compassionate aid to those whose livelihood has been disrupted by the intrusion of the Sulu terrorist.
There may be a temporary school for students in Felda Sahabat, especially if their schools remain closed any longer.
The remains of Commander Musa, said to be the group leader of the Sulu intruders, was brought to the Lahad Datu Hospital for a post-mortem.
