Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Firefly recently held an interactive session to educate and promote aviation related careers for undergraduates from Universiti Teknologi Mara (Uitm), Melaka. The event which was a joint initiative of Firefly and Subang Skypark Airport, with the support of Malaysia Airports Berhad, was held at Terminal 3, the airline’s central hub.

This half day session included motivational presentations and speeches by Firefly’s outstanding personnel from different divisions and a complete tour for the students to witness the airlines daily operations and its business model, the ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft.

Ignatius Ong, CEO of Firefly who was also there to support the event as one of the speakers himself, said, “The purpose of initiating this session is to enthuse our local undergraduates by connecting them with achievers within our company and making them understand that career prospects in the industry are extensive, and beyond the common conception of the general public. Therefore, we are equally emphasizing and exposing these students to the commercial as well as the operations side our business.

Ong reiterated that being a pilot or a flight attendant are most visually seen, promoted and talked about. However the main objective of the session was to give a better insight and enlighten the students on other equally lucrative career options within the aviation industry.
