For the past one month, news portals have been buzzing with news of Lahad Datu. Along with the facts, there are many negative rumours circulating that Malaysia is at war. To clear things up, we have compiled a timeline of activities that has been happening since day one at Lahad Datu. This timeline will be updated as often as possible with facts from various valid news portals in Malaysia.
30 March, reports say that there are still more than 10 Sulu intruders hiding in Felda Sahabat, and security personnel are hot on their trail.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib assured the public that security in Tanjung Batu and Tanjung Labian are under control, and both the coastal villages are declared free of armed intruders. Around 20 and 25 villagers are expected to return to these villages, but those whose houses have been burnt will continue to stay at relief centres until further notice.
At the moment, the cleaning up operation is being conducted at Sungai Bilis and Kampung Lok Buani.
1 April (morning), Police are on the lookout for someone called Datuk Seri Muhammad Ridzwan Sulaiman to assist with investigations in regards to Ops Daulat.
Police clarified that Ridzwan is not involved with the Sulu intruders, but may help shed some light into their investigations as police believe he may have funded part of the incursion. According to police, Ridzwan’s “Datuk Seri” title was not awarded in Malaysia, but was in fact awarded by the self-proclaimed Sulu sultan.
1 April (afternoon), Police confirmed that Ridzwan gave his statement at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at around 11am today. Ridzwan later spoke to reporters and clarified that he did not know the self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan, Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, but he did give money to another claimant to the Sulu throne, Sultan Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram.
