What brought you to Malaysia?
Firstly, I simply wanted to see and experience something different (culture, lifestyle, etc.) while I had the opportunity. The second reason is that my father is Malaysian and I wanted to spend more time with the family I have here.
What are three things you like most about living here?
Number one: the food! The choice is huge in KL and it’s generally pretty cheap to eat out. Number two: the weather. I hate snow and low temperatures, and the weather in Malaysia boosts my mood! Number three: the lifestyle in general. I feel that people here are usually more relaxed and worry less about unimportant things. The rich cultural heritage here also makes a very interesting place to live in. I'd finally like to add mamak stalls- i like them, too!
What are three things you dislike about living here?
I dislike the traffic jams and the bad public transport in KL; the inefficiency of many customer services; and the lack of open mindedness of certain people.
Where would you take an overseas visitor?
I would take them to Penang, for sure. It’s a place I used to really enjoy going to when I was coming to Malaysia as a visitor. The cultural heritage there is amazing and the food, too. Kuala Lumpur is also an exciting place to visit. Finally, I would take my visitor to the East Coast, because that’s where the nicest beaches are.
What do you like to do at the weekend?
Relax, chill, and lepak (hang around, chill out).
Do you own property here?
Not yet, but I am thinking about it.
Are most of your friends here Malaysian or foreign?
My friends here are mostly Malaysians. There is no particular reason for this.
What do you miss most about your home country?
I miss the cheese, the milk, and the mayonnaise (you can see my life pretty much revolves around food). Mostly, I miss the friends I have there who I am very close to.
