In a move that will be welcomed by many people, local taxi cabs are now permitted to pick up passengers at KLIA airport. This move was made following complaints of long waiting times for transport into town. Previously, arriving passengers who wanted a taxi were only permitted to use the registered airport limousines. The new system is expected to reduce waiting times to less than 10 minutes.
These taxis are also cheaper than the airport limousines, although passengers wanting to use them will have to buy a RM2 coupon to join the queue for them.
Only taxis which meet certain standards will be allowed to pick up passengers. They need to be in good condition and the drivers have to meet certain standards. Knowing how to find the passenger’s destination would be welcome!
