AES Summons Amount Reduced

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As you already know, the Automated Enforcement System (AES) has been taken over by the police. It was previously owned by two private companies, Bina Tegap Sdn Bhd and ATES Sdn Bhd.

The fine amount has been reduced to RM150, and may go up if fines are not paid on time. It was previously fixed at RM300. Also, those caught driving at a very high speed will still have to pay RM300.

For those who have previous AES summonses, hang on to them for the time being as there is a possibility that they might be written off. The announcement on this will be made later on.

According to Acting Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, “The enforcement and operations of the AES will be executed by the police. Prosecution of offences will be made by the A-G’s Chambers while the Road Transport Department (RTD) will be responsible for the demerit points system under which motorists can be suspended from driving.”
