Leading American retail chain, RadioShack, has launched its eight outlet in Malaysia. Located in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC), technology aficionados in the Bangsar area can now conveniently shop for the latest electronic equipment.
Tan Sri Vincent Tan, founder of the Berjaya Group, made an unplanned appearance at the event. In Malaysia, RadioShack’s franchise is owned and managed by Berjaya RadioShack Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of franchise developer Berjaya Retail (Cayman) Ltd. In an impromptu speech, Tan Sri Vincent Tan announced that he hoped to open at least 500 RadioShack outlets in Malaysia, and in other Asian countries as well.
Some of the gadgets available at RadioShack include wireless handsets, e-readers, tablet devices, digital music players, residential telephones, GPS devices, cameras, digital music players, home entertainment sets, wireless computers, music accessories and so much more. RadioShack carries various well-known brands such as Auvio, Gigaware and PointMobi, as well as its own RadioShack brand for batteries and power tools and parts for the Do-It Yourself and hobby segments.
Since its launch in September 2012, RadioShack now has eight stores, including single stop shops in Mid Valley Megamall, Berjaya Times Square, six other store-in-stores in Borders in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Penang.
