English First, a global organisation company focused on language learning, has released its findings on English proficiency around the world. Malaysia came top in Asia, ahead of Singapore and India. Countries where English was less widely spoken, like Vietnam and Indonesia, were mentioned as places where there was a marked improvement in English proficiency. On a global basis, Malaysia ranked 11th in the world among non-English-speaking countries. The accuracy of the survey might be questioned by some experts as it was based on responses to two online questionnaires which test English proficiency.
