Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The new school term will start a week later from schedule. This applies to schools nationwide. The one week delay is due to the severe floods in Malaysia.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is also the Education Minister, schools in Kedah, Kelantan, Terenganu and Johor will begin the new school term on the 11th of January (Sunday) while schools in other states will begin the new school term on the 12th of January (Monday).

As of Sunday, 340 schools in seven states in Malaysia were affected by the floods. Some of these schools were also used as flood relief centres.

The Minister says that it will take time for teachers, parents and students affected by the floods to prepare for the new term, hence the one week delay.

P/S: The delay is not applicable for International and Private Schools, unless stated otherwise by the school.
