One of the key tasks assigned to TalentCorp, apart from attracting qualified expats to Malaysia, is encouraging Malaysians living overseas to return. They primarily focus on those who are well qualified and have already established themselves in their respective fields.
To encourage their return, TalentCorp created the Returning Expert Programme. Malaysians who qualify and return receive a package of incentives including a lower tax rate on personal income and two tax-free cars. Those who have married foreigners also have a good chance of their spouse getting Permanent Residency.
Last year, some 680 people were approved under the programme and in the first six months of 2012, more than 500 were approved; TalentCorp’s efforts are delivering results and interest is growing.
