TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, recently announced the winners of its 2013 Traveller’s Choice awards for hotels. Now in its 11th year, these awards have identified the most outstanding properties worldwide in the categories of Top Hotels, Luxury, Bargain, Service, Small Hotels, B&Bs and Inns.
Representing its biggest-ever Travellers’ Choice campaign, TripAdvisor has named more than 6,000 award-winning properties around the world this year, with dedicated lists now covering 82 countries and nine regions worldwide. Unlike any other hotel honours, TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice winners are based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions covering more than 650,000 hotels and collected in a single year from travellers around the world.
According to the list of winners, Properties from Sabah and Sarawak had high scores with a slew of winners leading the way for Malaysia. Under the Bargain category, six out of the top ten hotels were from both states: the top four included May Fair Hotel (Sandakan, Sabah), Tune Hotels Bintulu (Sarawak), 1 City Hotel (Sabah) and 360 Xpress Citycenter Kuching (Sarawak). Seaside Travellers Inn (Sabah) and Tune Hotels Waterfront Kuching (Sarawak) came in eighth and thirteenth places respectively.

Langkawi, known for its gorgeous beaches and lush natural beauty, also came up strong in TripAdvisor’s 2013 Traveller’s Choice Hotel awards for Top Hotels in Malaysia. The island managed to bag five out of the top ten hotel awards!
Casa del Mar Langkawi, a spectacular 34-room boutique beach resort located in the heart of Langkawi, was ranked #1 for Top Hotels in Malaysia, #10 for Top Hotels in Asia as well as the Best Hotel for Service in Malaysia. The Danna Langkawi, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, The Datai Langkawi and Tanjung Rhu Resort were other Langkawi properties that made it to the top ten hotels list in Malaysia.
