A survey conducted by The Expat Group asking resident expats what they felt about corruption reveals they the majority do not feel the situation is getting any better. While some 7% said they thought there was less corruption, 35% felt still feel it was getting worse with the balance either not being sure or feeling the situation was unchanged. When we asked expats the same question three years ago, 62% felt the situation was the same and only 13% thought it was getting worse so clearly expats do not think things are improving. This view is reinforced by the fact that some 59% of respondents felt that corruption was widespread compared to 44% in 2010.
We will be publishing a more detailed report of the survey findings in the February issue of The Expat.
