The Expat Group’s latest wine dinner welcomed expats to the delightful Ribs by Vintry restaurant in Medan Damansara. One of the restaurants in the Vintry’s Group, Ribs serves up just what you’d expect: juicy, tangy, BBQ pork ribs. Oh, they have plenty of other options, but the fork-tender ribs are the main draw.
As guests arrived, they noshed on canapés and sipped on a crisp 2012 Cellar Capcanes Mas Donis Blanco, the evening’s lone white wine! As everyone took their seats, the first course was presented shortly thereafter, a creamy Mushroom Soup prepared with a blend of field mushrooms and accompanied by a 2012 Cellar Capcanes Mas Donis Tinto, the red counterpart to the earlier aperitif. Next, a trio of Duck Confit Rillettes was presented, each topped with either sun-dried tomatoes, olive tapenade, or gherkin slivers. The wine pairing for this dish was a marvellous 2011 Cellar Capcanes Mas Collet Barrica.
Finally came the main event – a choice of either Braised Pork Ribs or Barbecued Pork Ribs with a tangy sauce. Served with potatoes and salad, this terrific dish was made better with the 2010 Cellar Capcanes Costers del Gravet. Dessert, for those with room, was a decadent Chocolate Brownie, served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A classically perfect ending to a fantastic meal!
