Both pandas were given a water cannon salute by Malaysia Airport Holding Bhd (MAHB) upon their arrival at the MASKargo Complex at KLIA. However, the pandas could not be seen by spectators as they were immediately whisked away upon arrival. This was due to the fact that the flight arrived two hours later than expected, and it was too hot for the pandas to be displayed.
Both Fu Wa and Feng Yi will be quarantined for 30 days before they can be seen by the public.
The pandas are on loan to Malaysia for 10 years. This deal was made on the 15th of June, 2012, to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Malaysian and Chinese governments this year.
